Cast of Characters:

Allie (Raisin) - Best friend since 7th grade, and has always been there for me. A bouncy sort of girl, sometimes a ditz, but most fun to hang with.

J - Allie's beau. Quiet until he's comfortable, speaks only when it's important, but a blast to be around. The opposite of Allie in numerous ways, but like puzzle pieces, perfect for her.

Rach (Rachey Poo) - Evil twin (although she's a few years younger) since I was 15. Gorgeous and volumptous (*wink*), she's one to call at midnight and talk for hours. Everything I wanted to be when I was 16.

HornyScot - The Constellation Princess, Thoress. Fabulous chica. Best friend, bottled red-head, and girlie girl in crime. Weakness for shoes especially lime green ones.

Kat/Panheadfan - My sister for at least a decade. Younger, yet wiser in some ways, she lets me just feel. Delicate, yet immensely strong.

Eric - Cousin to Allie, and rock star.

Meapet/M - Constant reminder of the wonderful things that come with being single and independent again. Like Thoress, she has a sense of being able to take the reins of life at a moment's notice, yet willing at times to be vulnerable. My big sister and fellow conspirator.

Musicwolf - One of the Dirty ElderBerries, a Navy boy.

Quinnalt/L - Master at Arms at Constellation, ready to beat my will into shape, and mold me to a worker of his liking. A strange sense of humor, with an innate knowledge of when to guide, when to remold, when to listen. His pride in me pushes me to become something more, and again, to step out and take charge. To me, he's the strange uncle who tells the dirty jokes at parties. Also, one of the Dirty ElderBerries.

Sionnachzora/Miss Golightly - Timid as a dear, but carries a certain youthfulness and gaity in her step. Fellow sister and crewmate at the ship.

Zauditu - My mentor. Introduced a whole slew of options to me, pushed me to my limits, then cheered me on as I stepped up to take over. An amazing and beautiful woman, and I hope to one day be a fraction of the assertive, yet kind-hearted, woman she is.

Bossman - Bigwig at the ship, father to Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Red - Tall red-headed fellow Baltimoron and proud of it. Fellow crewmate from the summer.

Seanshine - Not same person as Red. Cutie with a big heart, fond for split-second changes in his decision on the impersonation of 'the One' aka Mrs. Right. But sweet and good for calling up and bitching about the opposite sex, or just a good old time.

SailorPip/Aequitas - Former beau, fellow crewmate. English, with a fondness for sailing tallships and a distaste for the French. Smart and quirky, and a general good guy to spend time with. Known for the 'Quiet Coyote' and losing cell phones in the harbor.

SailorGirl - SailorPip's significant other.

I think that's about all who I mention in my ramblings, but let me know if I've missed any.

And by the way, I, yours truly, is the Official Constellation Wench.

Here's a bit o' background on me. The one they call Elan.

I'm 18, nearly 19.

I'm female.

I still live with my parents, and my 14 year old brother, Jacob. And our two dogs.

I can't drive.

I live in Baltimore, Maryland, and work at a museum for the USS COnstellation.

25 Requisites for a Relationship with Yours Truly

To future men in my life:

1. I am who I am. Give up on trying to change me. Now.

2. My friends will always come first. They were here before you, & they will be here after you.

3. I am a princess. I deserve to be respected & cherished.

4. I do not owe you anything. If you spend hundreds of dollars on me, perhaps it is because I am worth it. I cannot be bought with bribes.

5. Do not diss my family. That includes my friends. While you are at it, respect your parents in front of me.

6. Give me my space. Sometimes I just need to think, plan, or even re-evaluate, and if you do not allow me this, I can easily plan you out of my life.

7. I need comfort. Sometimes that may come in the form of a hug. Sometimes a mug of warm milk.

8. When I share myself with you, listen. Pay attention. I don’t always want advice. Usually an open mind and a listening ear are all I need.

9. If we do break up, do not drop me as I meant nothing to you. You may be a better friend than beau.

10. More than anything else, I desire honesty. Emotional intimacy is a deeper bond than physical.

11. Remember, we are together because I want to spend my time & energy with you. I only deserve to have you do the same for me.

12. Share your dreams, passions, hopes, etc. with me. I promise I will listen & cherish your openness.

13. Do not ridicule my dreams & ideas. The world freely gives its criticism; I do not need that from someone who claims to care for me. Give me advice, yes. But do not tear me down.

14. Treat me like the woman I am. As with any other woman you come in contact with, no matter how familiar, I expect you to open doors, pull a chair out for me, help me with my coat, walk me to the door, etc.

15. No matter how long we know each other, romantically or otherwise, I expect you to retain your manners and politeness.

16. Only admit that you are sorry if you are. (I know that sounds like a cliche, but I don’t want an apology just for the sake of making me happy.)

17. Respect my opinions & values. My standards and boundaries are there for a reason, and I expect you to comply.

18. If your views differ from mine, voice them. Do not just go along with what I believe. (And there’s nothing like a good-old debate.)

19. Do not allow yourself to become jealous of my male friends. It’s not worth it.

20. Do not rely on chocolates & flowers on Valentine’s Day to make up for your behavior the other 364 days.

21. I refuse to be patronized or spoken to as if I were a child. If you speak condescendingly to me, I can move on as easily as a child moves on to a new toy.

22. I am not your possession. If we are to have any sort of relationship, I still must make my own decisions about clothing, friends, outings, etc.

23. Surprise me. Let me know you are thinking of me.

24. Extravagant gifts will not buy my love. In truth, it is the little, thoughtful gifts that mean so much more.

25. And lastly - Cherish me. Your actions will always speak louder than words.

-- Number of scars on my body: 2 larger ones - 1 on my left knee from crashing into a tree in second grade, and one on my right shoulder blade from a ceiling fan. A couple smaller ones on my arms.
